One of the streamlined cupola Wabash cabooses has been located, improbably, at the California, PA public library since the 1970s or 80s. I recall it being lettered N&W when first sighted there. Does anyone have a specific ID on this car? The library staff is trying to determine exactly what they own and its history.

The library, I neglected to add, is located in the former PRR passenger station.

David -

An old (2004) sheet I have of "Surviving Wabash Equipment/Structures" put out by the WRHS has a listing of caboose #2851 being preserved at California, Pennsylvania. Although most of these streamlined cupola cabooses were built in the railroads Decatur, Illinois shops, the last group of 10 (including 2851) were built by the International Car Company.
