Saw this a while back; the most interesting bit was a speedometer apparently reading something like 90 mph! I'm a steam fan through and through, but have to admit to being impressed with what electric power can do. |

The aired on PBS back in 1983. Those were the days. There were still many vestiges of the time when dinosaurs roamed the rails. I remember a hot summer night in the early 80's getting a cabride from an Amtrak switcher crew on a SW-1 that switched the Wilmington Shop. GG-1s were everywhere, round house, turntable, coaling tower, etc... The only thing missing were K-4s simmering in the night air. |
