I was wondering if anyone knew of any available SP, MP, and MKT equipment around. The organization I am with is looking to start acquiring equipment soon and these three railroads are our primary focus. We are also in search of 60+ ft (Pullman or Harriman)coaches to be used in excursion service. Our input would be appreciated.

It would be most helpful to some on this board who might be able to help your group if you could provide some info on your organization, for example:
* Name of the organization?
* When was it organized?
* Where is it located?
* Mission statement and objectives?
* Do you have a section of track or railroad upon which you'll be operating?
* The railroads that your group are interested in? (Your brief paragraph appears to answer that--I think.)
* What your group's intentions are with the rolling stock, e.g., will your organization operate equipment or are we talking a static display? (Sounds like you'll be operating stuff--I think.)
* Website address?
* Last, and by no means, least: Has your group received/obtained your 501c3 tax exemption from the IRS?

If you can't provide this info I seriously doubt you'll get much of a response.

P.S. You don't need to put the above info in a reply to my post. You should be prepared to offer the info if someone does respond positively to your enquiry.

Thanks for your input. I appreciate it greatly. Just a little info though for you, the group is called the San Antonio Railroad Heritage Museum, est. 2001, and we are a 501c3. The tax status was one of the first things I insisted upon when we were setting up the organization. I wanted to be sure we had that covered before proceeding too far into things. Suprisingly we received our 501c3 status in 12 days! I never heard of that happening before.

There are several former SP cars for sale on Ozark Mountain Railcar's website, some are without trucks, but seem fairly complete other than that. I believe the cars are located in Texas. There was at least one Shasta Daylight coach, a few Budd Sunset Limited cars and a triple unit diner.

Yeah those cars are in Flint, TX. I would love to get those for our collection espically the "Pride of Texas" which was built for the Sunset Limited and would have surely come through San Antonio multiple times when it was in service.
