IRM is re-covering a ceiling in a 100+ year old Pullman car. We need a sheet of Masonite to cover 51 by 136 inch ceiling. I did find Boulter Lumber in MA, looks like they can cut quarter inch MDF to that.
Anyone else out there have a supplier for oversize Masonite or hardboard like Georgia Pacific Superboard in small quantity.

It appears that International Hardboard/D&M Lumber can press an untrimmed panel of pine or eucalyptus up to 194" x 64".

Good luck.

Buzz,

Try the search feature. I remember reading about this topic on the forum in the past. I believe it involved a restoration of a CNJ heavyweight coach in the northeast, potentially at Steamtown. I think the poster indicated that they purchased the Masonite from Georgia Pacific.

Have you tried Hines Lumber in Aurora or Downers Grove, or Owl Lumber in Villa Park? This may be a special-order item, but I think either of them (especially Hines) could come up with it.

Buzz,

Here's the link to the thread:

It appears you can get it from Georgia Pacific through their Superior, WI hardboard plant. You have to order it directly though.

Best of luck.

David
