Has anyone heard anything in the last two days about a group of four or five F units passing south through the Carolinas to an unidentified destination in the Southeast to be scrapped? A friend in Atlanta relayed this from another friend in Raleigh, and I would like some substantiation, if possible.

I have no idea, but on a POSSIBLY related note, has anyone heard of the fate(s) of several F's owned by the consortium that was trying to sell the LIRR cars from Northern Central/Indian Head Central? The tornado that hit La Plata, Md. several months ago reportedly did quite extensive damage to a fleet of LIRR cars stored there.

I doubt any one's really out to scrap F's these days, but if they were damaged, or a bank got impatient for loan payments, you never know.

At least one Indian Head Central "F10" (F3?) is now being used by the Somerset Terminal, an industrial line in Bridgewater, NJ
