I am restoring a 1951 Willys/Fairmont A-30 and a 1957 A-31 Hy-Rail Motorcars. I am looking for old photo's, advertising, literature, and period correct hy-rail gear rusting away in a field behind the rail yard shops for repair parts for these unusual vehicles. These are full size Jeep truck and wagon bodies of the 1950's era specially modified by Fairmont 707-632-5258 paul@willysamerica.com |

Very rare birds indeed. I was looking at an A-32 recently but decided it had been too heavily modified to be restored. This is an interesting class of vehicle, somewhere between street and railroad yet designed as rail vehicles. Sorry I have nothing specific to offer; these things are so rare that few who don't own one know much about them. |

You may already be a member (making this post redundant), but the North American Railcar Operators Association probably is your best bet for finding information and parts. They collect hi-railers as well as motorcars. NARCOA ryarger@rypn.org |

Try typing in "Fairmont Railcar" on Internet Explorer and you'll get a batch of stuff that should give you a start in the right direction. Incidentally, I understand that Fairmont is still in business and parts are available for the cars they built. Jim rrfanjim@mvn.net |
