Recent photos of this old girl show her to be looking like she needs some attention. Photos from 10 years ago show her as pretty well kept. Outside display is a never ending battle.

Although it is true that the engine was built in 1912, she was rebuilt by the Frisco's Springfield, Missouri shops in 1943 changing her from a Consolidation into a Mikado. There were seven such engines so modernized by the SLSF; number 1351 was the second engine in the series. In 1351's case, the engine had been 2-8-0 number 1313 (so much for unlucky numbers!). When number 1356 rolled out of Springfield in 1946, locomotive construction on the Frisco was at an end. Three of the seven engines still survive. I agree that 1351 could use a big load of TLC!

Frisco 1352 is one of those reconstructed/modified locomotives...and is being restored...can't remember by who.

Poor 1351...it exists in the WORST part of Tennessee. As long as it stays in West TN...it is doomed!

There is a Facebook group that claims to be associated with a "Friends" type organization that is negotiating with the city of Colliersville to take on the upkeep on 1351. Aside from the Lackawanna diner that left last year, apparently all of the other passenger cars are now owned by Iowa Pacific and some of them have also left. They mention moving the locomotive and other things coming in to town to go with 1351 once all of the IP passenger cars leave.

I don't know how to link to a FB group but if you search for Frisco 1351 on FB you can find it.

Observer...you would be correct on all accounts about the collection that has been in Collierville for many years. Collierville is listed as one of the most "well-to-do" cities in TN...lots of money in town...but obviously no drive to keep a railroad display the city doesn't own in check. The city of Memphis owns the 1351...not Collierville, by the way.

The group on Facebook most likely is a private group...meaning the administrator of that particular page needs to "add" you. My company uses that same feature in Facebook so that only employees may access information posted on the company page.

I saw recently where several of the cars are now gone. I know the Power Car that belonged to the Memphis Transportation Museum was in Marion, IL in September on the Crab Orchard & Egyptian RR. I happened to be in the Marion, IL area and came upon the Power Car from MTM quite by accident. It was sitting completely alone on a siding near the interstate.

Les, a minor correction; only 2 of these Mikes survive, the 1351 and the 1352 in Taylorville, destined for a move to Ohio for restoration by ASR.

It is a little surprising to see how much the paint has deteriorated in less than 10 years on the 1351. The most recent pics I had seen looked pretty good but not so much now.

Rob -

No, number 1355 also survives. I stumbled across it a few years ago when the wife and I were taking some "less travelled" roads through Pensacola, Florida. She actually looked in fairly decent shape at that time (although with Christmas lights still hanging on her in the summer). She is the NEXT TO LAST "new" steamer that the Frisco added to its roster.

Les, now that you mention, you are right and I'm glad you are! I had forgotten all about the 1355!

Rob and group,

I'll have to post to the ASR facebook page the detail photo's I took of 1351 in 2010 or 2011. Good part is the locomotive is 100% complete and is a good example just in case we need to look at anything for the 1352 rebuild. The differences is 1350 and 1351 came with 2 Syphons in them instead of 1 which 1352-1356 had.

Last time I saw the 1355 she was very complete, which surprised me. At that time, she had just been painted by the Seabees and looked great.
I think all 6 had different looking tenders.
