Post subject:  Penn Station Artifact

I wonder if anyone here can enlighten me as to whether an item I acquired a few years back is the real thing? I have a brass doorknob/set which I have been told came from the old Penn Station in New York before it was demolished. It has an inside patent date of 1899 which I am sure was the date the knob mechanism was patented. Cast into the face plate and the knob itself are the letters "PUS" in an overlapping style and with deep relief. I am assuming this stands for "Pennsylvania Union Station". Would anyone here know for sure if it is the genuine article?
