All,

Follow the above link to my photos from the Western Maryland winter photo freight excursions a few weeks ago. Not much snow, rather balmy weather for this time of the year. Thick fog on Sunday morning made for some moody scenes - my kinda stuff!

Turning the page backwards, the 4 images with the white border were shot on 120 film – Ilford Delta 400 Black & White Professional. The palette has expanded; so much for traveling light with digital only…

Enjoy,
Matthew

Wonderful stuff, Matthew! And you've truly traveled back in time with those 120 frames...nice!

Some of the precipitation images are the kind of things that make classics. Anyone can go out in the warm, sunshine, but foul weather was just as common and those are the shots that usually "got away". Well done.

Richard, I couldn't agree more. For me, I’d much rather be out in the rain, fog, snow, frigid cold or blazing heat and humidity, way before dawn or deep into the night than a pretty sunny bluebird day – the images speak.

Stephen, thinking in square crop is a whole different ballgame!

Just got around to looking at these images, and yes, they are wonderful, even if they remind me that I live in the wrong time.

Among the more interesting photos to me are the ones that are in color, but have so little color due to fog and steam they could almost be in black and white. . .

Now I have a burning problem inside my head--whether that proposed TV series I tried to sell should have been photographed in color or black and white. . .:-)

Great shots still. . .

I’d vote for black and white; to my eye stripping away color heightens the sense of contrast, texture, shapes, and tones.

Aren’t we all born too late?
