Hello all, I don't normally post much of anything here, but I'm here lurking on a daily basis. A good friend of mine came up with this piece and asked for my help in identifying it as she knows that I'm into railroading. I'm stumped though... Cattle tag? Mail? Union? Somebody here has to know what this tag is. Thank you, Ryan Parkevich Columbus, ohio

It looks like a tool check tag. I have a few of these from different railroads. They were used to track who checked out which tools from the tool crib. Here is one presently on ebay as an example. http://www.ebay.com/itm/METAL-PRR-CAR-S ... 337fb88d8c |

Looks like a brass baggage claim tag to me. I've seen some from other RR's similar to it with "Local" on it or with the names of cities or towns along the RR line. |

The Texas State Historical Association keeps a neat site known as the Handbook of Texas Online. If you know of some piece of history involving Texas, really anything, and I mean anything, then you can search for it on their site. A search of the Texas Central Railroad turned up the following information: http://www.tshaonline.org/handbook/onli ... cles/eqt11 Enjoy Mike S. |
