BCER 1225 1st test run

On a rainy St. Valentine's Day we took the car out for the first time since we began rehabilitation in 2005.

I cannot help from notice the cute paint job and details added to the generator, which make it a miniature BCE trolley itself. How fun. Have you guys looked into acquiring the collection of Gordon Hatch, who built scale operating models of BCE interurbans and streetcars in 14" gauge? The last I recall, a family member was looking for an appropriate museum where they could be interpreted.

I believe this equipment was located in Victoria, BC.

No, we have not tried. at this time we were just too busy with BCER 1225 and we are on to the rehab of BCER 1304

How is the Duke coming along? Is 1304 in better or worse shape than 1225 was when it arrived?

We have found the body of 1304 in much better shape than 1225, but as the car was rebuilt after the fire in late 1945 and only had about 8-9 years as a public transportation vehicle before heading south one would expect less wear and tear.
We have stripped the inside and the roof. We are beginning to re-canvas the roof. Maybe by the Fall, we will lift the car and see what's what with the trucks.

Mr. Hatch's street car collection has been housed in the Hatch building at the Sannich Historical Artifacts site near Sidney, BC for several years.
