Today the Virginia Museum Of Transportation the press conference we all were waiting for came with positive news. The study to re build 611 for operation. Don't know about you but I have been hoping this day would come so my 16 year old son and 12 year old daughter could exsperiance this beauty on the mainline like I did some 20 years ago. For my wife and I it will bring back many great memories of chases and riding the queen of the fleet. Lets all pitch in and make this happen. I think it is great news but I hope NS does not stop using the 765 once 611 is done. I still have to say I think the 765 is the best locomotive with the greatest crew out there. http://www.fireup611.org/committee Joe Goodrich |

the more the merrier, lets doublehead. or a Horseshoe curve race. perhaps in time 1218, but if theres enthusiasm for another engine, look at a different engine. Recent article on NKP 763 was positive but kinda, well when is it gonna happen. I was reading some chunks were removed from the firebox for some reason. Not unrepairable, but takes more oomph. |
