Curious as to how your museum celebrated a 10th-25th-50th (or whatever) Anniversary. What special things did you do (if anything) or what do you plan to do?

Thanks.

For our 20th anniversary of operations in 1989 we hosted a concert by the US Navy Concert Band. The 25th went by unnoticed.

Get in touch with Scott Becker or Bill Belleno at the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum. 724-228-9256. Our 50th anniversary of being open to the public is coming up June 23, and festivities are being planned.

Les,
Navy band is always a big draw, maybe the mint fest board could contact them to
play at the city band area. Good idea.
We have a postal employee who is a mail carrier, maybe he could get a stamp for the
Hoosier Valley RR Museum. I often got an envelope stamped at the EBT during the
fall festival.
Rededicate the depot, with the new an improve "G" guage expansion into the waiting
room.
Maybe get the GTW transfer caboose back in service, so the museum volunteers can ride on the platforms and enjoy the ride.

Just my opinion.

The Illinois Railway Museum 50th anniversary was in 2003. The event I remember best was a Banquet for the membership. The Museum commissioned a series of watercolors depicting scenes at the Museum, had them printed as posters, and handed one out to each attendee. I had mine framed and hung it on a wall where I see it every day. That year the Museum also hosted a special Amtrak train carrying visitors directly onto Museum grounds for "Museum Showcase Weekend"

This year is IRM's 60th anniversary. Museum publications and the website carry a special logo commemorating the event. http://www.irm.org

IRM started as the Illinois Electric Railway Museum, and is making a major effort to get a large number of electic cars ready to participate in the annual Trolley Pageant this July 6. Apparently the goal is 60 cars running for the 60th Anniversary. That seems like a stretch to me, but we'll see. The last big Trolley Pageant was in 2011 and 37 locomotives and cars participated, as shown in this well-edited YouTube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iqIQrDBJgjM
