I think it is really interesting to read how air pollution concerns led to legislation and then to accelerated dieselization.

About 1996, worked at modernizing 8 pumped storage hydro turbines / pumps at Muddy Run, along the Susquehanna River in Lancaster County, PA. The hydraulic governors on those units were BLH, Baldwin Lima Hamilton.

That is what I hoped for.

Absolutely, I'll post the rest of the magazine. Pretty amazing how many different industries Balwin expanded into.

I'm pretty busy right now and might have to post more on the weekend.

Hadn't commented on this one before, but I feel I must do so now.

First, let me express once again how much we appreciate people sharing things like this. It would be unseen and forgotten otherwise.

Secondly, and this is something that might seem a little silly, but I look at your scanned images, and I can just imagine the feel of the paper and the smell. In fact, I'm going to say it's a good thing you have this magazine and other things instead of me. If I brought more of that stuff home, my wife would say, "What? Why are you bringing in more of those musty magazines? Pee-yew!"

I love her dearly, but when we got married, she took a vow to "love, honor, and obey." She needs to work on the obedience part.

"I am a man of constant sorrow. . .
My wife spends all my pay. . ."

Don't tell her I said that. . .

LOL, my wife is pretty good about my bringing this old stuff home.

I grew up in a house with a basement that was filled to the ceiling with old magazines, books and other odds and ends. That musty smell gets in your blood . . . you never know what you will find.

It becomes clear to me that Baldwin was attempting to survive its locomotive decline through diversification. Didn't work.

Thank you. Not only is this really interesting, but also, I was working on a piece of fiction tonight and had a pressing need for details on a Baldwin road switcher...which promptly appeared in the article, complete with dimensions!
