 Post subject: Speaking of blind drivers

A long time ago (but not in a far away galaxy) while checking out PRR steam being scrapped at the Deitch Co. in Sharpsburg, PA I came across PRR M1 4-8-2 6940. This loco had both the #2 and #3 axles fitted with blind tires. Was this common for the M1 class? Is survivor M1a 6755 also so fitted?
