Not what I consider the best television treatment of this (too much undercranked camera/time lapse work in the wrong places, too much goofy-looking computer animation in my opinion), but still an interesting account on moving a steam locomotive by rail, ship, and highway to a museum in Scotland:

I didn't quite get it, why was this moved all that way? What's the intened use for this locomotive now?

The loco is a product of North British Locomotive, Ireland.

Correction; Scotland. Same Island, different end.
The imfamous Scott quote from SNL :"if its not Scottish, its CRAP"

The Builders drawings for all the NBL products were preserved and are housed at University of Glasgow.

"The iron will crumble, but the paper can be: saved, replicated, reused, and some day the equipment can live again".

Ireland is not in Scotland..............
North British Locomotives were built in and around Glasgow

Thank you for posting this link. It's a very good program. Being TV, they do try to magnify each problem along the way but unlike many similar shows, they do not get overly dramatic about it. There's a little bit of razzle dazzle but that is also minimal.

What was incredible to me was that the producers either had a song composed or at the very least had one adapted with lyrics specific to this operation...and had a choir perform it. And it's actually quite good! (Unless there was already a song about moving a "train" from Bloemfontein to Glasgow.)

Restored and oiled for one last ride,
Six thousand miles to take in its stride.

This is the train from Bloemfontein,
Mighty workhorse of the African plain,
This is the train from Bloemfontein,
Off to Scotland... home again.
