In 8 Days UP caboose 2516 will go on display at Capital Lumber in Cheyenne, the retailer who have helped with my projects since 2008. She will move in September to Lions Park as part of the Walmart sponsored Childrens Miracle Network Car show. She is looking very very complete exterior wise and has had all new handrails built by a volunteer of mine Bob Jones, he has just completed the end sill and all its handrails as well. The joy of something this old is that you can put a repaint date above the door of 8.14. and it applies to either century !!

Here is the end sill awaiting fitting. Bob built this from scratch in 3 days. We used original CA drawings.
I also made some very cheap train reporting numbers for the center windows of the cupola using the stencils discovered in 2516.

You've done a remarkable job. Another piece saved and looking forward to a bright future. Thanks.

Thanks for the comments, the double decker has taken a back seat due to the caboose work as has Car 57 but both are inside their cosy silo home, We have found 3 double decker donor buses one of which will give us the parts ours needs and we intend to have her plying the streets of Cheyenne next year raising money and awareness of our 501c organization (also applied for now) whilst giving people rides and much fun.

Fitted the temporary train reporting number display today, things like this make ones heart happy, these haven't been seen on a UP caboose for over 90 years, and made from original UP roman font stencils found in the caboose behind the lockers.

Wonderful, wonderful!!

No criticism, but oh, how much would we all love to see trucks, couplers, and operational air brakes under your projects. . .

Yes i understand the thing about trucks, but imagine the cost then of taking your restored car to 3 different locations in 2 weeks to allow the public to view and walk all over them.....more than the $400 its costing me.
This way i can keep it undercover all winter and bring them out in the summer. May even make some fake 3D trucks eventually
