Hey Jim, many times in the last while I have seen it mentioned that Frisco 1522 is the only operable mountain type steam locomotive in North America. Well have a look to the north and take notice of Canadian National 4-8-2 #6060 owned by the Rocky Mountain Rail Society. In October 2001 she made a run on CN from Stettler Alberta to Jasper Alberta for the dedication of the restored Jasper railway station. The "Bullet Nose Betty" as she was known to CN crews because of her conical smokebox front runs in the summer months on the Central Western out of Stettler.

Yes, Grant, I think I managed to mentally edit in the word "in the U.S." and instead, trying to be international and all inclusive, actually typed in "North America," in my latest Crystal Ball column for John Craft's Steam Central page. My apologies to our Canadian friends, CN, and, of course, the 6060. Jim
