Roanoke Rail Fest Saturday, May 11, 10 am to 5 pm and Sunday, May 12, 1 to 5 pm Sponsored by Grand Home Furnishings and BB&T Discovering and celebrating our rail heritage. Steam train rides, family friendly activities, model train displays and more! ***Cab rides on the #17 for $10 a piece*** on May 11th and 12th Registration is open for AT THE THROTTLE! Saturday, May 18 or Sunday, May 19. AT THE THROTTLE puts you in control of the New Hope Valley's Railway #17, a 0-4-0 tank steam locomotive. Experience the magnificent power of steam. Reach up, open the throttle and feel the engine move on your command. Pull and listen to the scream of the whistle. The engineer sessions are 30 minutes long and a qualified engineer will be in the cab with you at all times. Cost is $125 per session.
