Post subject:  Hoking Valley Scenic Railroad Snowplow Restoration
Visited the HVSR this morning for a few moments, and to my surprise was this beautifully painted New York Central snowplow!! And might I add, a couple of freshly painted cabooses. The folks down there in Nelsonville deserve a round of applause for being a class act. About every couple of years I get the chance to drive down there and I am always pleasantly surprised at the improvements I always see.

I dont think the central had a lightening stripe plow, but who cares, it looks great!

I've gotten so used to seeing "preserved" rail equipment covered with rust and peeling paint that I don't care about the scheme anymore, just seeing new paint excites me.

It took me a while to find these slides , here what the New York Central Snow Plow should look like . Location Framingham, Mass , the old New Haven North Yard , slide on taken April 21, 1979 . Pat

The CGW X38 Plow is another Russell plow, however this one is getting an accurate restoration to as built configuration. This includes a significant amount of new woodwork in the interior as well as windows, doors, and other details. Nothing hokey about it.

04/08/2020; Rt.12 & Franklin St., 2:00 pm. A little excitement happened today when this antique railroad snow plow bottomed out and became stuck at the intersection of Rt.12 & Franklin St. The intersection was impassable, and traffic had to be detoured through various business parking lots for approximately 3 hrs.
We were told that the plow was a 1940 Russell snow plow owned by Conrail, weighing approximately 60 tons. A private buyer purchased it and was transporting it from Framingham, MA to Arkville, NY, where it is being repurposed into an office. The convoy, which was led by the Mass State Police, had to take back roads, as it was too tall for the Mass Pike.
When the TT unit pulling the plow turned left onto Rt.12 from Franklin St, it bottomed out and became lodged in the asphalt.
Ricky's Towing of Leominster responded and was able to free the trailer.
The convoy then continued it's trip to NY."

THE PLOW WAS DONE ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO. EVERYTHING WORKS ON IT. ONE OF THE WINGS IS A LITTLE SLOW. BUT IT LOOKS GOOD.

I wondered that too but word is that this ex PRR piece will see rail service on the Delaware and Ulster and the paper was erroneous.
