In an estate's worth of photos we're sorting through, we found several photos of this 0-6-0ST and cars on display somewhere. All of us are stumped. There should be enough there for someone here to ID this display, and/or tell us the current status. And the clock starts............. NOW!

Tannersville, Pa., near Stroudsburg along Interstate 80. The two passenger cars behind the locomotive were scrapped. I believe the locomotive came from the Cornwall iron mines area. As far as I know it is still there in deplorable condition. Bernie Perch |

Deplorable indeed. I have been stopping by to see her for regularly for 27 years. Actually stayed in the hotel and ate in the car behind her once many moons ago. Given that a) she's a steam locomotive b) she's a BSC artifact and c) she's in PA I expect that one day she'll be properly preserved. |

I would imagine the restauranteurs are pretty happy to have her right now. Whether real care is undertaken is another question. |

Speaking for myself, I wish she was getting proper care, but I think about everybody here can say we've also seen locomotives in much worse condition; at least the paint looks halfway fresh. Does anybody know anything about the passenger car behind her? It looks like a Pullman to me, but what configuration or identity is a mystery. |

My guess is that the heavyweight is a former LIRR parlor car, but it could be any Pullman lounge car. I'm pretty sure it was not a section sleeper. If I recall correctly, it has a door cut through a side, and some appurtenances might have been sliced off the underside. I spotted this one while looking for a place to eat en route to New Jersey, and was drawn in by the "Indian restaurant" billboard. Of course I had to stop when I saw the 0-6-0T and the Pullman. The food was mediocre. The remarkable thing about the switcher was how original the wooden cab was, but badly deteriorated. Aarne Frobom Goat Curry Village, Michigan |
