Wasatch Railroad Contractors out of Cheyenne, WY. has six loaded flat cars headed from the eastern USA to Tennessee. We need help watching them roll along. We are offering a free pair of gloves or a free hat to anybody who will Facebook us a picture of our train set on the move. The train was last seen in Unity, Maine, on the Pan Am, headed to the ST and then to the CN. CN will handle the train to Tennessee. The train set includes one steam locomotive, one tender and three passenger cars. You can find us on Facebook at Wasatch Railroad Contractors, or you can email us direct at info@wrrc.us. Thanks for any help that can be offered. John E. Rimmasch Wasatch Railroad Contractors |

It'd help if the route was known, or at the very least, the final destination of the consist. Otherwise you'd be counting on someone to randomly encounter it somewhere (and that's assuming someone would have a camera). What engine is this? |

Just got a few PM's that the train is now in Danville, or close to Danville (Maine?) Headed to the CN for interchange. CN will take it across Canada for a bit then south to TN, however, I do not have a specific route right now and will not have it until the train gets on the CN. Being as far west as I am.....it is a guess for me on the route. You east coast guys may know off the top of your heads what the route would be? Thanks, JohnE. |

Fair enough, but you should know where it's supposed to end up, right? Just listing the state it's going to isn't helping much... |

Also, the trainset will likely appear somewhat "Swedish" -- not that there's anything wrong with that ;-) SH |

gmray wrote: Google "Discovery Park of America" Is that where itnis headed? Going by the website's info it looks like they are planning for a static railroad exhibit. It would be a shame to see that 4-6-0 stuffed and mounted. Rob |

This locomotive and car set is the same one that Great Smoky Mountain Railroad was to be receiving. Great Smoky Mountain Railroad sold the train set to the Discovery Park of America center being built in Union City, TN. If anyone here ever saw this engine under steam...she really is a beautiful piece of machinery. I don't know if I feel too bad that she is going to become part of a display or not. The "Spirit of Unity" had been utilized on trips from Unity and Belfast for a number of years since the mid- 90's. The history of the Belfast & Moosehead Lake Railroad is interesting and, in the end, sad. Belfast, ME wasn't the most friendly township at the end...and the railroad had been struggling for years. They had the people with the will and a physical plant at the ready to have a grade-A railroad attraction in downtown. In the end, they chose a path that kept them as a tourism also-ran. If that was their goal, they achieved it well. It is a neat little town, but is hanging on way below its potential. |

Does anyone know if this "Discovery Park of America" is gonna be open by August? My wife and I are going to do a tour of the entire Volunteer state in the fall and I'd love to include this place on it! |

Lincoln Penn wrote: Goggle is your friend: http://www.discoveryparkofamerica.com/ Uh, "google is your friend" only works when you school the person ansking a question with an easy answer they could have gotten on their own. I was asking if anyone knew when it was really opening, you know, as in an actual date? They say "Fall, 2013." Whatever that means. A generalized non-answer doesn't get you that point. |
