Evening, I am wondering if anyone could provide more information on the old steam locomotive tender and tank car that sat forgotten on a siding in either Oregon or Washington state? Rumors I have heard suggest the tender came from a 2-6-6-2 logging mallet? Possibly from the Mount Rayonier Inc. The locomotive was said to have been scrapped as it was a liability issue where it was on display.

I am dreaming things up or does anyone else remember something of the sort?

How long ago did you see this Robert? I can't think of any steam locomotive that has been scrapped in the Northwest since the 60's, but there are at least a couple tenders still around from locomotives that were scrapped years ago. Maybe these are what you saw?

The problem is a saw the pics on a site that I just cannot find? The loco was scrapped around the 1960's or 1970's. The tender and tank car where coupled together and sat on a old track in the mud. The two cars were really rusted up and rough looking. I had the link book marked but lost it over the course of time.

Scott, since he mentioned Mount Rainier, I'm guessing he's talking about the old CW tender and yellow tank car that sat on the middle track in the Mineral yard. Can't recall, they may still be stored there, or maybe they were moved.

But I don't think the CW loco was scrapped in the 60's? I can't recall hearing what loco it was or any history at all? Thought maybe it had been scrapped long ago, and the tender saved for fire service?

Hmm, I don't think that is it? The two cars I remember where devoid of any markings, paint, etc. They were just rusty old hulks from some logging RR? The tank car if I remember correctly was not fit for service or to be moved anymore? Both cars still had friction bearing trucks as well.
