You learn something new all the time, even with a "dead" subject like steam locomotives. . .

I would have called it a Chambers throttle, but thought I should check, and from what I could find, it looks like it may have been a Bradford:

I have to wonder if Chambers and Bradford may have been the same firm under different names. There are lists of drawings in the Norfolk & Western Historical Society's collection that have common parts for both types.

One of the things that is amazing about the steam era is how many specialty manufacturers there were, making things like staybolts, throttles, brake shoes, gauges, stokers, superheaters, dynamos, headlights. . .to think that that all disappeared with the locomotives. . .
