The linked Econtalk podcast episode, with economist Russ Roberts and successful practicioner & author Dan Palotta discusses the problems (mostly of public misperception) associated with the charitable sector.

Topics include the assumptions that high "overhead" and executive compensation are indicators of waste, among other things

Worth a listen, even if they use the trerm "non-profit".

Interesting perspective. In listening to that podcast I found that I too judge non profit leaders by compensation and not by effectiveness an is something that I will have to work on.

Wow, I thought that program was REALLY good. Definitely a new twist on "run it like a business".

Russ Roberts was also involved in the famous and hilarious "Keynes vs. Hayek" rap battle videos.
