Post subject:  SP 3800 question

Does anyone know if any of the tech info still exists on converting SP 3800’s from coal to oil?

Thanks

This might be a toughie Robby. First thing is to determine where the modifications took place, El Paso or Sparks.

Hi Tom

The 3800 were converted in El Paso and then worked west as oil burners. There is not much in the way of roundhouse records that survived in El Paso. SP stuff for 3420 is coming out of Sacramento so maybe something is out there.
