Bob, per your brief on the WVN, just to confirm that the privately owned 0-4-0T you refer to is the ex- Carbon Limestone- ex NY Shipbuilding Vulcan that is presently the #17 at the EC NRHS in Bonsal NC. We brought her down from Kingwood WVa a few years back. The wooden water tank at that time was in good shape but there were some financial and legal questions. It would have, and still could be ( unless it has been let go) the center of a nice tourist operation. The politics arent my specialty but it looked at the time to be a missed opportunity. Of course, from the outside thats easy to say.

It is my understanding that the WVN was purchased a few years ago by A&K Railroad Materials, a track salvage firm. I know several people have looked at getting the two remaining diesels out, but last I heard they remain in the shop with defective wheels and friction bearings. I hi-railed the line many years ago, and while an interesting little railroad, it is pretty remote.
