Ran across this old photo on the MKTRHS website. Last existing Katy steam locomotive. I believe several MKT heavyweight passenger cars might still exist also.

Two Katy cars operated on the New Georgia Railroad in the late 80s and early 90s. They were MKT 904 (NGA 1102) and MKT 911 (NGA 1101), which came with the equipment purchased from the Hartwell Railway in Georgia for start up of the New Georgia. The cars were very nice and were unfortunately separated when the New Georgia equipment was auctioned in August 1995. The 1102 (MKT 904) was sold sans trucks (it had been jacked up for work just before operations shut down) to an individual who moved the body to his farm where it supposedly still resides. (It sold for $1500!!!) The trucks were sold to Great Smokey Mountain Railway for a bit more. The 1101 (MKT 911) was sold to Kentucky Railroad Museum where I suppose it is still in service. If I had the money and a place to store them at the time of the auction they would be in Albany, Georgia right now. Oh, well.

Age of Steam in Dallas has at least one Katy HW car. The MKT diner they have was one of the last HW cars built in 1937 by ACF.

Does anyone knwo what happened to the former MKT HW's that operated on Arizona's White Mountain Scenic RR in the 60-70's? Reed Hatch had 5 of them in the "640" series. Reed put an open platform on the rear of one along with a "parlor section" in the back 1/3 of the car. This car went to the Apache Ry when WMSR shut down in 1976 and later got sold to the Yuma Valley RR group. I have never heard what happned to the other four cars. Way back then (30 years ago?!?) they were still in pretty good shape.
