The Rochester and Genesee Valley Railroad Museum has hit a major milestone in the restoration of Lehigh Valley Caboose #95100! Major steel work has been completed on both sides of the caboose. This work was done to replace rusted and bulging side sheets.

Here is a shot from last night that shows the new sheet metal:

She has come a long way since we plucked her out of a scrap yard in 2011:

We hope to sandblast and prime the car before winter this year.

I'd like to take a moment to thank all our donors! The replacement rivets were made possible through our "Adopt-a-Rivet" program.

Please consider making a donation toward our cause: http://rgvrrm.org/support/index.htm

Joe,

Adopt a rivet? What a great idea, I'm stealing it! In our case it may be adopt a bolt, nails or x board feet of wood. The caboose looks great. Wish we could get the sole Oahu Railway and Land Company caboose from California back on her home rails. Someday.
