I remembered today a video I had seen on YouTube several years back, and was able to find it again:

The ride is a little bumpy, but with historical narration and Scott Joplin's "Bethena" playing in the background:

A descendant of one of the persons featured in the video posted a video with historical corrections:

There's an "updated" version of the original video, but other than being 1:35 longer, I'm not sure there's many differences:

Thank you for posting this. In 1973 I started working in the "Flats" on south Onieda st and right across the tracks from the Wisconsin Electric Power Company office's and old coal fired plant which has since been torn down. They had restored the original hydro building which was very small and had it on display for years. Do not know if it is still there or not. The old Fox River Paper mills in video survives as apartment building conversion. When they ripped up South Oneida st in 1973 the bricks and rail were still under the existing pavement. We watched them rip it up on our lunch breaks. The video brings back a lot of memories as when I worked there in the early and mid 1970's many of those old building seen were still standing. Pretty sure the car barns were not, but I saw my old companies building before some of the more modern additions that certainly came later on. The weld shop was a B-17 hanger, but the old original brick building was a foundry from at least the 1870's. Forgot about all the bricks and rails they dug up when they started major road construction in about 1980 through out the whole city. Had no idea the trolley system was so extensive.

A man by the name of Henry Baker, who founded a cab company in Appleton {Fox Valley Cab} was quite a character and had the privilege of knowing him well in his last years. He had many stories of growing up in Appleton during the 1920s and 1930's. Much of the history mentioned in this video kind of brings back memories of both when I worked there and also the stories that Henry used to tell. So, thanks again for posting the links. Regards, John.

Appleton - the final resting place of a true patriot who was blacklisted by history for telling the truth.
