Post subject: | Need Your Help: Mystery Equipment Provenance |
Does your museum have equipment for which absolutely no provenance exists to document its previous service life? Or have you hit dead ends in the quest to research a car or locomotive's past? In compiling a new roster for our museum, I have come across a few vehicles that have virtually zero documentation in our curatorial files. I will post the pieces here in the hopes that perhaps some Rypn folks might be able to help. They are: Lehigh Valley RR wooden bobber caboose No. 2606 (builder? date built?) Lehigh Valley Railroad 40' wooden boxcar No. 75073 (builder? date built?) Pennsylvania Railroad class P70 passenger coach No. 1006 (builder? I assume Altoona but no documentation. This car has been a real mystery to solve, even using extant surviving PRR records. I believe it was renumbered to 1006 in the 1960s so its previous number(s) are heretofore unknown. Date built?) Pennsylvania Railroad class Ba wooden baggage car No. 6 (Builder? I assume Altoona Car Shops but again no documentation on file.) Baltimore & Ohio No. 81 steel Railway Post Office car built by Pullman in 1913 (Class? I have heard classes H-9 and H-11 but which is correct?) If you have any information to share, please cite your source and contact me either on this board or off-line at my above email address at the museum. Or if you have a recommended source, I would welcome your advice. Many thanks to all! K.R. Bell RR Museum of PA http://rrmuseumpa.org c-kbell@state.pa.us |
