Some good figures here. Note that New Mexico's investment comes up to only $36,000 per year. When I lived in Vermont, I used the same tactics with detractors of the state's two subsidized Amtrak trains. People were surprised that the subsidy for the two trains came out to less than $2 per resident per year.
