Has anyone come up with a nice screw-in 6 volt LED replacement for lantern bulbs? Lanterns like Star, Conger or Justrite? I looked online a few weeks ago and came up with nothing currently available. There was a British website that seemed to have what I wanted, but they were discontinued. I have a few older lanterns that I would like to upgrade and use again. Any info would be appreciated.

I have had good luck with this outfit on all sorts of LEDs.

They have a page for LED flashlight type bulb replacement.

However I have found that the direct replacements for existing flashlights have narrow beams or are dimmer.
Newer lanterns with dedicated LEDs work better for actual use.

Great products, many wired for immediate inclusion. The service is terrific, too.

One thing to remember, trainman's lanterns are usually tip negative with respect to polarity. Screw in a replacement led bulb with tip positive and it will blow out. I've not found a ready made screw in led bulb, but have made my own. I figure after gathering all the parts and machine work the bulbs I have made cost about $70.00. You could use them to drive with if need be.
