Have been steadily working on 2516 thru whatever weather gets thrown at it, when its too cold in the silo then work goes on at home etc. Both benches are now built and in position and the partition restored from 1909 CA 2455, now working on the ceiling, stove platform, remaining door and coal bin. As soon as siding is made and received then that will be fitted and we are getting quotes on a membrane roof. May is approaching rapidly ! Mike Pannell Cheyenne

You're doing a fine job, too. One of our shared seasonal joys on this board. |

A similar CA-1 caboose in Granby, CO? (Moffat Road RR Museum). http://www.moffatroadrailroadmuseum.org ... boose.html Quote: ...built by the Mt. Vernon Car Company in May of 1923 with the original number of 2655--renovated in December of '63 and retired in September if '67. It is only one of 175 made from 1913 to 1924. Very few are left. What's that on top of the cupola?

On top of the cupola on this one is a lamp, CA 2455 had one but ours shows no sign of having been fitted with one although the cupola roof could have been re roofed at some point, 2455 and mine 1909 and 1913 respectively were built by Standard Car co whilst 2667 which is a CA-1 not CA. Perhaps the lamps were fitted for certain districts ? 2667 was built in June 1923. Mike Pannell |

More great work today, good to have volunteer ! new bunk top added, partition walls in place, bench screwed down, and siding from the 'caboose' shed I recovered a few years ago back on a caboose again on the west end. http://car57.zenfolio.com/p940861892/hdeb63f3#hdeb63f3 Mike Pannell |

Rapid progress as the coal bin from UP 2455 is now restored and installed and the stove platform, flooring to go down shortly and ceiling to be repaired and finished. She starts to look exciting! http://car57.zenfolio.com/p940861892/h2 ... #h21ca3145 Car 57 will NOT make an appearance this year, i made the tough decision that i can only realistically do one project really well in time for May 2014 and depot days, 57 suffered damage to the interior whilst on display downtown despite my best efforts at roof sealing, and its best for the car that we spend a dedicated 12 months replacing the roof and doing all the interior properly so that when she does emerge she can withstand the weather and look spectacular, if anyone wants to visit the restoration facility at any time they are most welcome of course.
