We may have a shot at getting a quantity of original RR seats of a variety of types. Does anyone know what seats were originally in the model 55 Brill car? Our Brill (see attached link) currently has beat up seats from a LIRR coach, and it would be nice to replace them with as close to original equipment as possible. TMNY Brill n2xjk@yahoo.com |

The two Brill cars I have been involvled with have had Brill walkover seats. Perhaps the new Edwards Car co in Florida can provide very similar replicas? Dave irondave@bellsouth.net |

The seats in the ex-Frankfort and Cincinatii Brill 55 at the Kentucky Railway Museum are very basic. I wouldn't even call them walkover seats, as they cannot change direction. They are upolstered currently, but I believe hearing that at one time they were covered in Rattan. At one time, we had some ex-LIRR coach seats stored in the car, and they appeared to be about the right size, but they were built differently. david.wilkins@bardstown.com |

I don't have specs yet on the seats that will be made available to us. Since so much on our M-55 is not original, an exact replica on the seats isn't as important as just using the closest match of the seats being made available to us. It should be a vast improvement over the heavily patched up seats in the car currently. TMNY Brill n2xjk@yahoo.com |

Most gas-electric cars were single ended. Would walkover (reversible) seats have been used in this type of car? tmanz@afo.net |

The model 55 is gas-mechanical. Our car is double ended. I don't know if they came from the factory that way though. Our current operation requires DE cars, so a walkover seat is practical, if not exactly authentic. ephilj@yahoo.com |

The most common type of seat found in the smaller Brill gas-mechanical cars were the Brill "Winner" style seat. Presently we are preparing to manufacture a set of these seats for a Brill Model-55 car we have. These are walk over and can be covered in material or rattan. edrailco@aol.com |
