http://tvrail.com/pages/21st-Century-Steam Grundy, VA to Devon, WV; Where is Devon? Here: Attachment: Devon.jpg [ 157.08 KiB | Viewed 8131 times ] Attachment: Devon wye.jpg [ 125.78 KiB | Viewed 8077 times ] That's right! NKP 765 turned on the Buchanan Wye (Devon) back in 2012, after running from Williamson. So....Devon, WV = NS Ought One. For the 2014 trips you'll arrive there from another direction (other side of the mountain.) Get your tickets while you can; Saturday afternoon sold out in less than 24 hours. |

Devon is a small town located southeast of Williamson, on the WV/KY border. It is of interest to me because a few miles west at the now nonexistent village of Cedar, is where the 611 wrecked with the Pocahontas nearly sixty years ago, on January 23, 1956. Devon was noted as the last station the 611 passed with a telegrapher on duty that night. Its distance from Williamson is about 20 miles, and can be easily be found on Google Maps, following the NS route southeast of Williamson and the junction with the Buchanan Branch. Care is needed as there is also a branch at Cedar, though it is much smaller and has since been deactivated. lois |

Hate to see people turned away from these trips. Perhaps adding more cars would be a good move? |
