For the New England rail historians, it is common knowledge that some of the most iconic streamlined cars (in addition to some subway cars and LRVs) were constructed at Pullman's Osgood Bradley plant in Worcester, MA. For the foreseeable future, it seems railcar manufacturing is returning to Worcester in the form of a new company, Vertex Rail Technologies, although I doubt it will be at the Pullman factory. Production isn't to be primarily undertaken at the Worcester facility, but one in Wilmington, NC will carry the bulk of the load, based off of information in the press release. http://www.railwayage.com/index.php/mec ... channel=59 |

I seem to be seeing a trend away from chinese/foreign manufacturing....slow, but in steps some areas seem to be coming back to the states. |

I see a trend where Chinese/foreign manufacturers are moving their engineering departments to the U.S. Drive around metro Detroit (where all the growth is, not the city proper) and they're all over the place. Partly the prototyping capability there is very good. |
