Post subject: | GATX tank car info needed |
A few years ago, RyPN's briefs section carried a report about an old tank car available for donation by a New Jersey chemical firm. The car was eventually donated to Railroad Museum of New England, and we are now restoring the car. Careful sanding in the proper areas had yielded quite a bit of the lettering, but some important things are missing or illegible. Any of you know of a source for GATX builder's photos, drawings, data, etc.? Does GATX respond to these types of inquiries? Is all of that stuff in a landfill somewhere? Any help would be most welcome. hpincus@mindspring.com |

Recent dealings with GATX were drawn out, but to make a long story short, the resident historian, from whom I was never able to get a response, is no longer with GATX. His name was George Loweman, and I have no idea where he went after leaving GATX late last year. Sorry I can't be of greater help. > Does GATX respond to these types of inquiries? > Is all of that stuff in a landfill somewhere? > Any help would be most welcome. syfrettinc@bellsouth.net |
