Good Evening

John Plytnick, whom some may know from the Western Railway Museum seems to have gone missing.

I don't know nor expect a lot of you to have the answer (LOL), but, the more folks in the area that do know and understand the situation at hand, might be of help.

Sincerely

karl johnson

He was always very prompt with the rent check. She had my number as a contact in case of an emergency. His motorcycle is in the building's garage, but his mail has not been picked up.
> I informed Bill Kluver, as I am now living in Fairfield and Bill is still in San Francisco. He talked to the landlady and persuaded her to call the police. She did and they opened John's apartment. John was not there. Bill determined that John was not at the morgue, SF General, nor in jail. John has not been at the Western Railway Museum in at least a week.

Scary news--especially since we lost Jeff Moreau not that long ago.

I attended Jeff Moreau's memorial on March 9th at the Museum and am pretty certain that I saw John there. Also realize that several weeks have gone by since then.

Is his motorcycle accounted for? TRARM's spring meet is this weekend in Kingston NY. John always was a regular at ARM meets, heck he was the president for some years.

His motorcycle is in the garage of his apartment house. I was told about two weeks worth of mail had accumulated.

This from ATRRM ED

"David, Jim Schantz told us this at the conference and we are all praying for his safe return. He was not with us I'm sorry to say. Please keep us informed.

Good evening:

I was at the Kingston gathering and after reading the initial post in this thread, I told Jim Schantz, of Seashore and a board member of ATRRM, during breakfast Saturday morning. The board meeting was the next item on the schedule except for an early bus to the Trolley Museum of New York for those of us wanting to do something else.

I had served as Secretary-Treausrer-Editor of ARM during John's time as President.

John hadn't registered for the Kingston event either. Its not the case that he was expected and didn't show up.

Just received email:
Quote:
Friends of John Plytnick:

After contacting the police, visiting Mel's and Original Joe's and talking with his landlady, we have found out that John is alive after suffering a medical emergency and being taken from Original Joe's to the hospital sometime during the week of March 17th. Bill Kluver has been working with the police who inform that he was discharged from the hospital on the 26th and sent to a convalescent hospital. The police are in touch with the social worker. There are, evidently, some confidentiality issues but they will be resolved shortly.

Thank you to all who have expressed such concern about John's well-being and given such good ideas which were followed up on this morning with Mel's, Original Joe's and the police. We provided the investigating officers an update this last known activities, routines, and information such as his birthdate, bank account, phone info and photo. His landlady has been notified so his home will be secure.

When we have more definitive information as to his condition and location, we will provide an update.

Thanks to all of you,

Grant Ute and Bill Kluver

I love it when my privacy is protected, in general, by anyone (government, private entity, or an individual).

Though it does make you rethink the implications of UN-privacy and social media. Imagine somebody with an active Facebook page, photos, checks in at their usual haunts, etc. This sort of detective work gets a lot easier.

Anyway thank you very much to whoever did that legwork, and I am so relieved to hear that John was found and is doing ok.
