In another threat we have this question:
Quote:
Among the railway museums represented on this site, how many of these museums are institutional members of the AAM (American Alliance of Museums)?
Another question would be to ask now many railroad museums are members of the American Association for State and Local History?

This membeship organization is generally made up of smaller museums and local history museums. Its programs, literature, books, etc, are directed to these museums. I once heard the head of a small museum say that they looked to the AASLH for for "how-to" and the AAM for the ethics of being a museum.
