Post subject:  Tamper builders number or........?

We recently had a Pandrol/Jackson tamper donated to the museum. I found this cast plate on the side of the unit today when I looked it over. Might this be a builders plate? Or if not, what is it?

Thanks for any info.

Serial # of the machine probably, P&H cranes had the same thing.

Hi Les,

I was going through some photos of mine and stumbled across this, thought I'd include it for reference...

Thanks Joe. Appreciate the photos. Any idea when #144049 was built? We actually got our tamper up and "doing its thing" this past Saturday.

Les, no clue. I just happened to spot a bunch of MOW equipment in a small yard on the local shortline one day and snapped a few shots...

Okay Joe, thanks. Wonder if there are any other Jackson serial number photos out there?

Sitting on a windowsill within sight of my computer is an older s/n plate. Lettering is;
Jackson
Track Maintainer
86247
Each line is centered
Plate is cast aluminum
Original paint I would guess, yellow background, black lettering. Paint is chipped.
Where did it come from? I haven't a clue. I don't know if Jackson maintained a file on its smaller machines. I know they did on all of their spreaders.

Thanks Alex. Big number difference between THAT number (86247) and the numbers in the above photos. Did Jackson come close to making that many rail machines of different types over the years? But perhaps these numbers weren't consecutive but some type of a "code" instead.

I have tried with no success on several attempts to get Jordan info from Harsco.
