There was some discussion within the last month on an executive car from the Georgia & Florida Railroad in Texas. The car is number 100 and is currently used as guest quarters for visitors to Sprint Press in northwest Fort Worth, Texas. A pamphlet on the car said that it was built in 1886 by Delaware Car Works and was retired from the G&F RR in 1962. It was used as a fishing camp in a swamp until recovered in 1974, and somehow wound up next to the Kosse Depot that was moved to Fort Worth and converted into a bank for the Mercantile Bank. The City of Saginaw, Texas acquired the depot building, and Sprint Press bought the executive car. 100 and a coal car converted to kitchen are connected with a large sundeck and sit in the parking lot of Sprint Press. The interior is in exceptional condition, and visitors to the car are given a copy of a book about the F&G and car 100. ray.nold@verizon.net |

Do you have any photos of this car or any more information? I am very interested in cars built by the Delaware Car Works, this would be from the Jackson and Sharp Company in Wilmington, DE. Many of the buildings where these cars were built stiff exist in Wilmingotn. Check out my website link below to see them. If you have more information I would like to add it to my site. Thanks, Tom Gears Wilmington, DE Forgotten Delaware's Jackson and Sharp Pages tgears1@comcast.net |
