It appears China is building a new rail museum in Beijing, capable of holding 80-100 locomotives, but initially stocked with about 30 from the Depot 101 maintenance site in the same city. See the Railways of China website below for photos of both sites. Note that as we do in America they are placing the engines in a modern ugly building rather than utilizing the older historic facility.

I'm glad to hear that some of the Chinese locomotives will be preserved. This is good news indeed. I'm sorry that the site is apparently not a historic one, but likely, as China's rail system is likely still closer to it's historic peak size, the historic structures are still in use for their intended purpose, if not with steam locomotives. Recall that U.S. roads didn't really begin swelling off, abandoning, or tearing down their roundhouses for something like ten to twenty years after the decline of steam. Hopefully, when the time is ripe, those will be preserved there too.
