Do anyone have a copy of the factory method for dialing in a main generator on a 251 engine? Have done many E.M.D.'s but this one is going to be different. Just looking for the factory way of doing it. Or any tips anyone has done it before may have. |

Are you referring to it's alignment with the engine? If so, I should have that info around here somewhere, as we did it once about 7 years ago. Will take me a while to find it. Eric |

Jack, there are no doubt folks that can tell you more, but here are a few basic things: 1) The line up on the GE main generators is generally the same whether you're coupling to a FDL or an Alco. 2) Unlike the EMD products, the GE generator is hard coupled to the engine then, similar to the transmission to bell housing in your car, the engine rigid to the frame of the loco. 3) The line up is verified/checked by measuring crankshaft deflection in the first throw of the crankshaft on the generator end. 4) Adjustments are made with shims between the engine and generator. If Eric can't help with the proper MI, let me know -- I have them both from the Alco and GE perspective. ETA |

Hopefully the file uploads. Sorry it took a while to come across it. I forgot how small it is and was looking for a larger document. Eric
