Correction, CB&Q Hack... Quote: Although lettered for the Northern Pacific, this car was originally built for the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad in Jan of 1920 in their Aurora, IL shops and was classified as a NE9 road caboose. The car managed to stay in service until the merger of the Burlington Northern in 1970 and was renumbered #11197 and then it was finally sold into private ownership in 1975 and repainted into Northern Pacific but retained its original road number. The car is in sound condition but needs restoration. all original equipment is there. You move it. I have bids between 5 to 6 K

I've seen this car on Ozark, they were asking more, about $13K, but reduced it to $7K. From the pictures, it appears to have some rot problems around the coupla and roof corners, maybe around the stove pipe as well. It's an interesting car, it has been a bit redecorated......would probably be good for a small tourist operation, might be able to comfortably seat 15-20 people..... |

Here's the Ozark link: http://www.ozarkmountainrailcar.com/det ... 90-REDUCED Uh, yeah, it's spent a lot of time outdoors in the Pacific NorthWET. Looks like it has lots of rot... Nice pattern if you want to build a replica caboose. |

Agreed, it's overpriced a bit for a wooden project car. If this particular type of Q caboose is not rare, then a conversion to a Civil War era style coach by some organization would seem to be a good use of it. And anyone in the Pacific Northwest insterested in buying a caboose is probably better off looking at one of these two steel cars going up for auction June 8, in Hermiston OR. http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/cto/4452873642.html |

It would appear from their website that the cabeese (lots #48 & #49) are being auctioned during the May 31st -- June 1st dates...the "collectibles" are being auctioned separately on June 8th. Also note that there are some pieces of MOW equipment (lots #37-#42?) on the first auction days. sc 'doc' lewis |
