Does anyone have a source for making new gauge dials or the face of the gauge? I have steam booster gauge that needs a new face to be created for 1352.

Thanks!!

There is a gentleman in Quebec named Alan Westland, that can restore gauges.

Hi claim to fame is making new gauges for CPR 2816, and is presently making gauges for CPR 2858 at the Science Museum in Ottawa.

We may also end up getting him to restore the gauges for CNR 6167 in Guelph, Ontario.

Perhaps Steve Hunter from the Smith Falls Railway Museum can put you in touch with him, as Steve recently mentioned on here that Alan is a member of his group.

The gauge you are referring to, is it for a Franklin Booster? Can you post a photo of it? CNR 6167 used to have a Franklin booster, so I'd be very interested to see it.

Alan can be reached at westlandadATmsnDOTcom or (819) 827-1068.

He doesn't check his e-mail every day, so the phone would be the quickest way to contact him.

Wow...Alan is still around...I have a gauge from him that he did 8 year ago. I'll have to give him a call and I'll take a picture of the Franklin Booster Gauge.

Thanks!

What process does he used to create the dials?

For that matter, how were they printed/painted originally? Silk screen, rubber stamps, some other process?
