In October 2013 a group of dedicated volunteers from American Steam Railroad drove 6.5 hours out to Central Illinois to clear bush at the site of 1352. The pictures below show the first steps in getting 1352 ready for movement via railroad flat car. The same group plus a few new volunteers on May 28-June 1st, 2014 will doing the necessary lubrication and polishing of bearing surfaces on 1352 to move her out of the engine house for the first time in 15 years. Our goal would be to have her home to Cleveland Ohio by October 2015 but we need to make our 100K goal for the lift and move to Ohio. This figure includes all transportation, flat cars, riggers and cranes needed to do the job at both ends.

Lumber jacks hard at work all for 1352

Keep those Chainsaws moving. Did you know we saved 8,000 from the total project by doing this ourselves all for movement of 1352 to Cleveland Ohio.

Now we have the tender ready for movement. Progress in motion.

New Pads, polished bearings and axles on the tender and adding new oil. Tender is ready to roll.

Clear Track ahead come on out 1352. Not bad for three days worth of work. Now 1352 is ready to be moved outside and ready for cranes to arrive to take her home.

Now for the crew that did all of this in 3 days. This is some of the dedicated force to bring 1352 back to life. Consider making a donation towards the cause to bring 1352 home.
