I'm not much for webcams (a bit like watching grass grow), but some might find this one interesting for at least one look. It is looking north at the Bellows Falls, Vermont station, which once served the Rutland's line to Rutland, Vermont (up and down in the view) and the joint Boston & Maine/Central Vermont (across the view) Connecticut River line (north to White River Jct. is to the right). The patch of green grass in the upper center is where the Rutland's old wooden roundhouse was located; the turntable still exists, buried 13 miles north at Chester, Vermont. There were once five diamonds here, and B&M dispatcher had to be contacted everytime an engine was brought out of the Rutland roundhouse. Today, the operators are Green Mountain RR on the former Rutland and Guilford Trasnportation and New England Central on the Conn. River line. Green Mountain operates its passenger train from this depot, so you will see it occasionally. Amtrak Vermonter runs on the Conn River line. Nelson Blount's first Steamtown site was to your back at the B&M's North Walpole, NH roundhouse (still in use by GMRC), just across the Connecticut River stone arch bridge. The later Steamtown site at Riverside, VT was a couple of miles north up the Rutland line. http://209.198.126.37/Jview.htm ryarger@rypn.org |

Type in "guest" as usercode and leave password blank. At least it worked for me. > which I don't have ryarger@rypn.org |
