Thanks for the help.. I was unable to go down to Spencer but I did get to see them off and meet up with them on the return trip at Slateford junction where this pic is from. It's the interchange between NS and the D&L, it's former DL&W rail, you can see one of their concrete towers in the background. Here they are waiting for a NS road foreman to look them over before they start the trip to North Carolina. You have the modern NS power, our F-3's, and the D&L Alco's all in one shot... It just depends on what the organisation wants to portray the artifacts as. "Originally purchased by the Bangor and Aroostook Railroad, these early diesel locomotives are now painted in Lackawanna colours to pay homage to the DL&W RR on which tracks they now reside" No objections to that, eh? |

The work the ARHS and Tri-State is doing will certainly give them a good shot at being around long enough to see several stints in different paint. Right now the BAR F3A scorecard is 5 scrapped and 3 existing. It seems BAR #42 is the one that could use some guarantees to make sure it survives to see another generation of railroaders. Rob |
