The caboose is really looking something now as i start to apply the fun stuff like lettering and fittings. I am 2 years into this pretty much solo project now. Not sure still where she will end up on display, but open to ideas. Mike Pannell

Nice exercise in industrial archaeology. Thanks for sharing each step and discovery. |

Mike: I was over in Cheyenne for the holiday weekend to visit my son and his family. I brought along something that I thought you might find useful on the 2516. I had hoped to get together with you, but the funeral of a close family friend was on Monday and we had to cut the visit short (just like my emergency last year). My son, Mike, is over in Kentucky for the week but will be back on the 14th. Check with him at Wasatch when he gets back. If you can use it...great. If not, auction, sell or raffle it off and use the funds to help finance your on-going projects. If you can use it. Add some pictures to your postings and then I'll post the steps I took to fabricate the object. (Isn't the suspense killing the rest of you folks? If Mike can't use it on the 2516, I will post my steps of fabrication in a few weeks.) BTW, does 2516 have a sink? I've got one (sans fixtures) that I'd also like to also donate to the cause. Let me know if you're interested and I'll try to email some photos, dimensions, etc. Great work and keep us all informed. sc 'doc' lewis |

Mike, excellent work, thanks for sharing. Any interest at all from the Cheyenne Depot Museum? Even without trucks it would make a really good display about cabooses and the purpose they served. Especially if it would fit inside the building itself! Jason Midyette |

Many thanks Mr Lewis ! I am wondering now what it is ...cant wait. Yes it did have a sink, a simple steel affair, and i would like to fit one back in the caboose too. The Depot Museum is not in a position to house the caboose inside or out and we are not in a position to afford liability insurance....the reason why Car 57 had to leave downtown too. Mike Pannell |
